The Aerial part of the project started around 5.00 pm as we had to make sure that the cable car is closed for the day, the wind was a great deal stronger than forecasted but we managed to fly safely. The task is to carry out aerial photography (photogammetery) with a view to print into a 3D model.

A huge thanks goes to Arwel, Jeremy, Matt, little Thomas and Dr.Sian and of course a huge thanks to Prof Ray for the use of the ROVER, keeping fingers crossed for good results.

The rover is a land based GPS where by it requires a 3G mobile network to give you accuracy of +/- 5mm of the point of interest, which is pretty incredible. Unfortunately 3G coverage is not 100% in North Wales so most of the data was collected towards Llandudno to get the mobile network going!

The case study is funded by Creative Exchange Wales Network

Industry working with academia is a great concept, both parties can tape into each others resources. We are looking forward to seeing the results of the cause study in the not to distant future.
